Types of family and partner visas:

Partner & Marriage Visas

  • Partner (Temporary and Permanent) Visa (subclass 820/801) – For spouses or de facto partners of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens and who are already in Australia at the time of application. This visa allows you to stay in Australia while your visa application is being processed.

  • Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300) – For fiancés/fiancées intending to marry their Australian partner. 

Child & Adoption Visas

  • Child Visa (subclass 101/802) – A permanent visa for dependent children of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens, which allows them to stay in Australia and live with their parents.

  • Adoption Visa (subclass 102) – A permanent visa for children adopted overseas by Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents. This visa permits a child to live in Australia with their adoptive parent.

  • Dependent Child Visa (subclass 445) – A temporary visa for children of temporary partner visa holders. This visa enables a child to stay in Australia temporarily while their parent’s permanent Partner visa application is being processed.

  • Orphan Relative Visa (subclass 117/837) – A permanent visa for children whose parents are deceased, permanently incapacitated, or missing. This visa lets a child live with a relative in Australia.

Parent & Aged Parent Visas

  • Parent Visa (subclass 103) – A permanent visa for parents of settled Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.

  • Aged Parent Visa (subclass 804) –  A permanent visa for aged parents of settled Australian citizens, permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens applying onshore. 

  • Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (subclass 173) – A temporary visa for parents of settled Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. 

  • Contributory Parent Visa (subclass 143) – A permanent visa for parents of settled Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. This visa has a faster processing time with higher fees compared to the Parent visa (subclass 103). 

  • Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa (subclass 884) – A temporary visa for aged parents of settled Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.

  • Contributory Aged Parent Visa (subclass 864) – A permanent visa for aged parents of settled Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizensThis visa has a faster processing time with higher fees compared to the Aged Parent visa (subclass 804)

  • Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa (subclass 870) – A temporary visa that allows parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens visit Australia for up to 3 or 5 years.

Relative & Carer Visas

  • Aged Dependent Relative Visa (subclass 114/838) – A permanent visa for elderly relatives financially dependent on their Australian sponsor. 

  • Remaining Relative Visa (subclass 115/835) – A permanent visa for individuals whose only close family members reside in Australia.

  • Carer Visa (subclass 116/836) – A permanent visa for individuals providing substantial care to an Australian relative with a long-term medical condition. 

New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship Visa

  • New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship Visa (subclass 461) – A temporary visa for non-New Zealand family members of eligible New Zealand citizens living in Australia.
